Enhancing society through our solutions

Say ‘IT company’ to the person in the street and what is likely to come to their mind? Maybe a faceless and bland organization that has nothing to do with everyday life. Well, that’s the exact opposite of what Tieto stands for.

Our solutions are having a positive and immediate impact on society - in all sorts of surprising ways. For instance, how many people know that Tieto is helping to improve cancer care? Digitalization is speeding up the time it takes for patients to receive their test results, from months down to weeks. This is a direct example of how our innovations are giving value to real people in real situations.

Don’t forget the industrial internet. In partnership with HSB, we created one of the world’s first living labs. This unique facility is examining data-driven ideas to enhance future living; ideas to help make society more sustainable - everything from energy efficiency to how food will be cooked in the future. 

Then there’s the bold new world of artificial intelligence (AI). AI is guiding and supporting our management team, helping them to make decisions that will drive our business forward into the future. And who remembers the incredible fact that we built the world’s first ever internet bank, way back in 1994? All of these innovations show that Tieto is not just a company with huge expertise - we consistently put that expertise into play for the greater good of society.

Creating the ideal customer relationship, and ensuring equality in the workplace

My customers are some of the biggest banks and insurance companies in the Nordics; they sometimes ask me questions that I’m not always able to answer. When I take these queries back to my team, the replies I get are awesome (just like my team): “Yamit, you set your own limit; we can do whatever they want.” Or, “Let’s create real value for them...and let’s do it in a way that’s never been done before.”

I feel blessed that I’m able to work with such smart and driven people. They understand what I want to achieve for my customers. We always strive for excellence above all. This is why I feel completely assured that when my customers ask for our help we can deliver the best there is. Always.

Sales is so much more than just delivering a solution or answering a need. It’s relations. It’s trust. It’s always putting the customer first. I want to make their dreams come true. I want to be able to meet my customers in a supermarket and have them embrace me with comments about how great our work is. That’s the essence of a good customer relationship.

As a young women in my field I want to make a change. I want to inspire and empower others, especially women. It’s important for me to feel that I’m with a company that will enable me to do this. Tieto was the first IT company in the world to be given the gender equality certification from EDGE. EDGE is the global standard for gender equality. In real terms it’s about removing barriers, ensuring equal pay, and giving men and women exactly the same working opportunities. 

I’ll soon be joining a leadership program called Greenhouse. I’m super excited. Why?

Because it’s proof of the faith that Tieto has in me - they believe that I can empower and inspire others. They know that by investing in their employees, they are also investing in their own future.

Us millennials find it important that our personal beliefs are reflected in the companies that we work for. It’s not just about money; it’s about changing the world for the better. In Tieto I’ve found a company that shares my values. Far from a faceless and bland organization, they strive to make society a better and more sustainable place. They thrive on the value they bring to people’s lives. This is why I wake up with a smile every day - even on dark and rainy Mondays
