Security cannot be a lock-in business

We acknowledge that security in the modern world is a very complex thing that mixes technology, people, behaviours and processes. It would be preposterous to think that one company alone could be able to provide everything that is needed to keep a company’s digital business assets secure.

Vendor lock-ins are dreaded by everyone who make big IT purchase decisions. The story goes like this: You do a multi-million euro deal with an established IT-service provider to deliver a business-critical system for you. As the vendor owns the IP and dictates the licensing terms, you have no option but buy enhancements and maintenance from the same company until the unforeseeable future – or pay a hefty price for changing vendors.

Need new properties for your IT system? Buy it from the original provider for an exorbitant fee. Your vendor can’t deliver what you need? You’re so out of luck. Even as the world around you and the rules of business change, you are stuck trying to cope with the stuff your vendor is able to provide.

Not so in Tieto Security Services.

We acknowledge that security in the modern world is a very complex thing that mixes technology, people, behaviours and processes. It would be preposterous to think that one company alone could be able to provide everything that is needed to keep a company’s digital business assets secure.

This is why we have chosen to build our security offering around an ecosystem of the best forces in security. We partner with both globally recognised companies as well as up-and-coming security startups.

It’s the ecosystem, man!

The aim of the ecosystem is to be able to choose just the right security tools. You don’t want to end up buying additional but unneeded features “just in case” you might need them in the future.

It doesn’t matter if it’s a big corporation or an eager startup that provides the solution; the ecosystem guarantees that the customer gets the best possible protection and analysis from available solutions in the market. Thanks to this modular approach to security, if something doesn’t work or situations change, it is easy to change an underlying component to get better results.

Often companies are able to see the problems in security but try to solve them with the wrong tools.

It’s kind of natural: If the only tool you have is a hammer, every problem looks like a nail. The right way is to drill down to the very source of the problem and only then choose the right tools for solving it, and that is - the business problem.

This is where our Tieto Security Wall product shines. It’s the tool for showing your company’s security status – you see in one easily interpretable view what is working and what isn’t. You’ll also be able to measure the effect of the actions you’ve taken towards security.

No lock-ins attached

One nasty thing about vendor lock-ins is that they force you to spend more money and time than necessary. The project may take close to a year (or even longer) to complete and the investments are often heavily front-loaded.

Enter the ecosystem: With our managed security services and industry-leading partners you’ll be up and running within weeks. You pay as you go, without having to think about payback periods for capital investments.

We’d like to think that we do things differently. Instead of just giving the clients what they ask for and running away with the money, Tieto Security Services challenges preconceived ideas about security and looks what is working and what isn’t for the client.

Vendor lock-in means that you buy services from a company because you have to. We are here to offer you services you buy because you want to.
